AI Disclosure

This page explains, in plain language, the AI behind Fundi Sensei: what it is, what it is not, the model and providers we use, the limits of its output, and the human-in-the-loop safeguards that apply. It is published in compliance with Article 50 of the EU AI Act (Transparency obligations for providers and deployers of certain AI systems), the Kenya Data Protection Act, and Google’s published Generative AI terms.

1. What Fundi Sensei is

Fundi Sensei is a conversational AI assistant that helps you describe a business problem and explore a possible software, payments, or digital-growth solution. It uses a large language model to understand your messages and to generate helpful, plain-language responses.

Specifically, Fundi Sensei can:

  • Ask you about your business, your customers, and your current pain points;
  • Suggest practical solutions in non-technical language (e.g. "a system where customers can order and pay from their phone");
  • Look up general information from our internal knowledge base and, where helpful, from the public web;
  • Generate a structured project brief at the end of a discovery conversation;
  • Hand the conversation off to a Volcha team member at your request.

2. What Fundi Sensei is not

Fundi Sensei is not:

  • A human. There is always a person behind the brand, but during a chat the responses are AI-generated.
  • A source of legal, tax, financial, medical, or other regulated professional advice. For those topics, please consult a qualified professional.
  • A binding sales channel. Nothing Fundi Sensei says is a quotation, contract, or commitment. A Volcha team member will discuss and confirm any engagement separately.
  • An autonomous agent that acts on your behalf in the world. It does not send emails, place orders, or make payments on its own.
  • A medical device, a credit-scoring system, an employment-screening tool, or any other AI system classified as "high-risk" under the EU AI Act.

3. The model and providers

Fundi Sensei is built on the Google Gemini family of models (currently Gemini 3 Flash for the conversational agent and the structured-brief generator). It is developed using the Vercel AI SDK and the Next.js framework. Conversation messages are sent to Google’s Generative AI API for inference and may be processed in Google data centres in the United States and the European Union.

Fundi Sensei is operated by Volcha Enterprises Limited and is part of the Volcha product family. Volcha is the data controller; Google acts as our data processor.

4. Training and data usage

Your messages and the AI’s responses are not used to trainGoogle’s foundation models. This is the default under Google’s Generative AI API terms and the Google AI Studio terms of service for paid-tier and AI Studio keys. Google may temporarily store prompts and outputs for the purposes of abuse detection, safety enforcement, and service operation, in accordance with the Generative AI Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Volcha retains conversation data for up to 24 months for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy, after which it is deleted or fully anonymised. You can request earlier deletion at any time.

5. Known limitations

Like all current generative AI, Fundi Sensei may:

  • Produce information that is inaccurate, out-of-date, or hallucinated;
  • Reflect social or cultural biases present in its training data;
  • Misinterpret ambiguous or poorly spelled inputs;
  • Behave differently across languages and dialects.

You should treat AI responses as a starting point for your thinking, not as a final answer. For consequential decisions, verify independently.

6. Human-in-the-loop and oversight

Fundi Sensei is designed for human-AI collaboration. Specifically:

  • A human Volcha team member reviews every handed-off conversation before contacting you.
  • You can at any time ask to speak to a human by typing words such as "human", "agent", "person", "representative", "support", or "talk to someone". The AI will then stop the discovery process and collect only the contact details needed for a callback.
  • Our internal policies prohibit the AI from making commitments about pricing, timelines, or contracts on Volcha’s behalf.

7. No automated decisions with legal effect

Fundi Sensei does not make automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you, as defined in Article 22 of the EU GDPR or section 35 of the Kenya Data Protection Act. In particular, it does not decide whether to enter into a contract with you, set a price for you, or determine your eligibility for any service. All such decisions are made by Volcha staff following the AI-assisted conversation.

8. Transparency to you

We make the AI nature of Fundi Sensei clear in the following ways:

  • The email gate includes a banner stating that you are about to interact with an AI assistant, not a human.
  • The agent introduces itself as "Fundi Sensei" at the start of every conversation.
  • This AI Disclosure page is linked from the footer of every page on the Service.
  • The footer includes a "Powered by Volcha" attribution so it is clear who operates the Service.
